| Tis been way too long since my last post. I know I've probably lost some some subscribers because of it (all 3 of them ) It's been a couple of months since I posted last!
Everything is going pretty well in Auburn. Of course, everybody saw that Auburn beat Alabama for the 5th time in a row. That means every year I have been an Auburn student, we have defeated our biggest rival! Saweeeeeet. I hope we can continue this streak into the years to come. The rest of the football season was so-so. It felt good to beat both Florida and Alabama, but it felt pretty crappy to lose to Arkansas. But I don't think I'm the only Auburn fan to note that our season this year looked nothing like our perfect season a couple years back. We just didn't win with the same force. We didn't look as together, and certainly didn't have any impressive wins. But it still was a fun season for my last here as a student!
On a different note, it's finally starting to feel a little more like winter. After having highs in the 70's last week, this week will be a big change. The wind chill was about 22 or so on the way to work, and that was cold enough for me. The cold does bring great memories though. As the semester comes to an end, I can't wait to get out into the field to hunt again. I actually bought a rifle over Thanksgiving. It's a Browning 30-06 A-bolt hunter, and I got a Nikon Buckmaster scope to go along with it. I've only had one chance to go to the range, and it was just a short visit, so I'm definitely excited about getting another chance to get a few shots in. I'm also looking forward to seeing my buddy Mike and catch up on the times. He's a great hunting buddy.
My family is doing pretty well. This was the first Thanksgiving in a couple years that my parents have been home long enough to plan a good thanksgiving feast. They moved back from Kissimmee in October, and are very glad to be back. Thanksgiving was cut a little short though. My aunt has been in pretty bad shape for the last month or so. She needs a triple bypass, but her lungs and kidneys aren't healthy enough for the surgery. On Thanksgiving day she had to have emergency surgery and was put into the ICU on a ventilator. A few days later she developed pneumonia, which is certainly not good. She needs a lot of prayer, as well as my mom. If she dies, this will be the second sister my mom will have lost in the last couple of years...all due to a lifetime of them smoking. Fortunately my mom was smart enough never to pick up the horrible habit.
On a much happier note, I've applied to go on a mission trip to Malawi. This was a big decision for me, but one that was easily made. I had prayed about it a lot, and God definitely answered those prayers. Now I just have to pray that they let me go! There is a limited number number of slots, and I know that more people have signed up than can go. Even if I can't go, I figure there will be other opportunities for me. God never fails.
Another happy note! Whitney and I are still together, and happier than ever She's truly been a blessing to my life, a Godsend. I missed her so much over Thanksgiving, and even though I was having a fun time with my family, I couldn't wait to get back to see her. I'm very happy things are going so well between us. This is the first relationship I've ever had that's stayed so strong even almost after a year. So Whitney...thank you for being such a wonderful girlfriend! In fact, not just wonderful...but the best I can't wait to see what the future has in store!
Spiritual life...hmmm. Well, honestly it's been off and on, and it certainly hasn't been what I want it to be. I know I mentioned the mission trip, but at the moment I know that God has a lot more to do in my heart before I'm ready to do everything He will ask of me. I know I have a lot of praying to do, studying, and meditation. I could certainly use some prayer and encouragement. There are particular parts of my life that definitely need a lot of improvement.
I think that's about it for this update. The next week or so is going to be very hectic due to finals, so I doubt there will be another update soon, thus the reason for the length of this post. I will try to get back into it after the break, but there's not guarantee, especially considering the classes I'll be taking. Anywho, thanks for stopping in again and have a great day
By the way, Kate Rusby is AWESOME!
See the pyramids along the Nile
See the sunrise from a tropic isle
Just remember darling, all the while
You belong to me
See the market place in old Algiers
Send me photographs and souvenirs
Just remember when a dream appears
You belong to me
I'll be so alone without you
Maybe you'll be lonesome too
Fly the ocean in a silver plane
see the jungle when it's wet with rain
Just remember till you're home again
You belong to me
I'll be so alone without you
Maybe you'll be lonesome too
See the pyramids along the Nile
See the sunrise from a tropic isle
Just remember darling, all the while
You belong to me

| Here I am once again! I know, the updates are slow, but at least there ARE updates . Thanks goes out to Robb for reminding me that I actually had a Xanga account.
I'll start out with a disappointing note. Anyone who has Auburn blood running through their veins saw the game last night and was most likely thouroughly disappointed...even though we won. After the game i just sat there in awe. We let Newton run around our three man rush every single time, and that was not the Auburn defensive line I'm used to seeing. The third quarter was great since we had the ball the whole time, but sheesh!
Ah, now I feel better
Last weekend was really enjoyable. I was actually a groomsman in one of my friend's weddings. It was a nice wedding, and reception was a lot of fun. That's the first wedding I've been in since the last time I was a ring bearer (really young). For some reason I was sooo nervous, and it wasn't even my wedding! My palms were sweating like crazy. And to make matters worse, I had to wear shoes. Why is that a problem you ask?
Well, if you know me personally, you've probably already seen my feet. If not, then to make a long story short, I injured them doing overhead squats in the rain, barefooted, and on concrete. Yeah I know, sounds really stupid. The barefooted part was actually a good idea (better lifting form without large soled shoes) except that we were doing it barefooted on wet concrete. A picture of the carnage is up on flickr, so you can find it on www.flickr.com/photos/mattlaney . Anywho, I was able to grit my teeth and get through the wedding and reception with my feet all bandaged up under the shiney shoes. Oh, and guess who caught the garter?
Tests are starting to get closer and closer in my classes. Actually, I have one in about 3 hours, but I'm not too worried about it. I've had this professor before, and his tests aren't too bad, especially if you have the old tests from previous semesters
My parents should be on their way home soon! Mom is finally retiring, and they will be moving back to our house in Madison from Kissimmee, FL. I know they are going to be so happy to be home, as I will be too. I haven't been home in a while myself, so it will be nice to be back in Madison to see them and all my hometown buddies.
I believe that's all I have for now. Until next time, have a great day!
p.s. Love you Whitney!

| Yeah, so I decided to post a new weblog. I was typing it up and got destracted with a side project for work. That project involved deleting cookies so I could see refreshed data on a page....turns out I also deleted the cookies for this site, so I lost my entire post...and it was a good one!
Basically things are going well right now. I am getting back into CrossFit, back into classes, and work. My Christian walk has been strengthening since the slump during summer, and I'm sitll happily with Whitney . I ran a 5k last weekend and finished 416 our ot 1665 racers! woot it was a lot of fun! Today is Friday and the day before AUBURN FOOTBALL!!!! I'm sooo pumped and wish I could leave work and campus right now! Anywho, that's it for now. I might lengthen this post later!
p.s. Sorry for the length of time between posts!

| Hmm, haven't posted in a loooon time, so let's go!
Lately I've been really really busy with homework and work. At first it was pretty dang stressful and getting to me, but I guess now I've just gotten used to it and am generally in the swing of it. My day is usually: wake up, breakfast, school/work till 4:30, workout if possible, otherwise homework till dinner, dinner, homework after dinner, sleep. Every once in a while I catch up on my homework and get some free time!
I really haven't been able to workout as much as I want to lately. Whitney and I have a triathlon coming up at the end of next week, and I don't really feel ready for it. I was ready for the last triathlon, but I've hardly done any training since the last one. I guess it won't be too bad though. This next one is about the same length, so it shouldn't be all that bad. I just need to swim a little more before I get to the tri. What I really "need" is a new bike, but I can't afford that right now. My current one is very cool, but it's just too small for me. Unfortunately a nice road bike costs about $800. Yikes!
*warning: sappy section*
Speaking of Whitney, she is the most wonderful g/f ever!! Seriously, I have never felt so blessed before to have someone like her in my life. She always knows how to make me smile no matter how my day is going. I can talk to her about anything, and I KNOW I can trust her in every way. There's just this peaceful feeling I get when I'm around her like I know everything is going to be just fine...in fact, it's going to be great. There are so many things with Whitney that I'll never have to worry about, and I'm very thankful for that. Sure, we may have different food tastes, but that doesn't stop me from loving her the way I do! Anyway, she's awesome!
*end of sap*
he he he. I know you read it
Truck stuff: Well, the truck is running pretty darn good now. I say that, but I'm careful to say it. The transmission is starting to act a little funky. I'm afraid there will be a transmission rebuild in the future...which just means more money to spend. Besides the transmission, it's running very strong after I finally got everything straightened out. I've since installed new edelbrock headers and y-pipe. I also installed the door shaving kit, so the next thing will be to actually shave the door handles. Woot! The supercharger is supposed to be in either by the end of this week or next week. I really can't wait and I hope I don't blow anything up
Well, I think that's about all the updates I have for now. Cliff notes: Life is busy, whitney is great, truck running good, excited about the future. Whew!
